First of all, we all know Gin Rummy is a fast paced card game that gets people high strung about becoming experts to win more money so if you're here trying to gain some of that knowledge, you'll be glad to know that I've done the footwork and have gathered strategies that rummy experts use most to carry out their money-making feats.

Watch the High Cards: Because the remaining cards will be tallied up at the end of each round, you should try your best to get rid of the high cards. Any card that is higher than eight or nine should be trashed. Incase the obvious isn't so obvious to you, High cards are Jacks, Kings and Queens, the Ace, in some instances, is counted as a ten or one, but you have to make sure you verify this before the game begins.

See who's sitting next to you: You should pay close attention to who you sit next to. Before the game begins, take a mental note of the individuals in the game. If you know them, then you will have an idea of how they play, but if not, then you should avoid sitting near them.

Try to sit in a seat where you can play before the best player: You can easily block him or her from getting the hand that they desire. Be careful, though, of not trying to focus too much on their hand alone. The objective here is to win and not only to block another player from winning.

Try to form melds in similar sequence of numbers: Forming melds like five of clubs, five of hearts and five of diamonds is best. Do not opt for sequences like eight, nine or ten. If you are trying to build a running sequence of numbers, it is likely that some other player may be trying to get the same running sequence.

Jokers are a high commodity: Players love to draw jokers from the pack and you can tell when a player gets a jack by the expression on his or her mug, especially if it's an amateur player. When you've figured out who has the Jack, pay attention to their play sequence and try to block them if you can. Don’t hold on to any sequence that will clash with theirs.

Watch the Discard Pile: Focusing on the discard pile and memorizing the cards that have been played will greatly improve your chances of winning.
