Join me, Jake the Snake, for a fast and friendly rummy game online!

Playing card games online can be just as much fun as playing cards with a group of friends on a Friday night. There are lots of free card game rooms where you'll find Rummy and Rummy card game variations, like Gin and Rummy 500, Oklahoma Gin, etc.

Online rummy is spreading like wildfire and that's a good thing. I've been playing Rummy since the summer of '82 and haven't stopped ever since. Now that I can play rummy card games online for free, I'm getting better and better. Playing rummy online is really the best thing that happened to me, in terms of improving my gin strategy. Think about it: you need to practice to be really good and how often can you convince your buddies to get together for hours at a time to play Gin or Oklahoma Gin? Not very often, especially not my buddies; they're all married, with kids and personally my wife doesn't like the knocking noises me and the guys make every time we've got hot melds in our hands. She always tells me the same thing: "I thought I was the only screamer in the house, Jake."

So I'm here to tell you about the different card game rooms out there where you can find free online card games, but more specifically free online gin rummy games and some PC based free rummy games. I'll tell you about the free card game rooms for a sec, then move on to the best money making rummy sites later.

Ok, so some of you have asked about Rummy software for your PC. Playing rummy against a computer is ok, but just think… you're playing against a computer. Regardless of what I think, I created a list of Rummy software you can download straight to your PC; it's mostly shareware, so it's FREE. Here is the list of free Rummy software I recommend.

Ok, how about free online card game sites? I have tried lots of free card game sites and I tend to stick to the ones with traffic. It's just no fun playing an online card game at low traffic sites… it can get lonely SO with this being said, if you want to play a free game of gin online, check out the Yahoo card game area. Yahoo's free gin game is pretty straightforward, but the downside is that it's usually packed. If you do find a seasoned gin player, you'll surely have lots of fun.

I also tried Kurnik, a community-supported website that features classic board and free card games online where you can play against real opponents in real-time. Kurniks' website is clean with an ultra simple java based interface, (so you don't have to download to play). You can organize your own public or private online gin tournaments (WOOHOO!) and there are all sorts of simple features you could use.

Another Java based website you can play Gin rummy online is Netintellgames.com. You can choose to play Simple, Standard and Oklahoma Gin variations. You set the target score from the get go and choose to play with a human or a robot. I tried choosing a human a couple of times, but nobody ever seems to be available, so I used the rummy robot. It makes for good practice. Netintellgames.com let's you customize the card decks, layout and backgrounds, you can define card speed and sound effects, but that's about all there is to it. The interface is super simple with very few bells and whistles. I'd recommend you play here only for practice or if you are desperate for a quick Gin fix against the rummy robot (like when you're at work).

PlayJava.com is another java site for really competitive players that want to have a round just for fun. It’s a good place to play to improve your card game skills and rummy strategy but if you're like me and like to actually WIN something once in a while, then you can choose to play for prizes.

Ok, so I'm ready to talk about the real FUN online card game sites that let you play for cash. There are a few good online rummy sites worth looking into these days, which is why I've decided that each month I'm going to talk about the online rummy and online card game sites I highly recommend.

Now, you all know I like to win cash at rummy and I know you like to win cash playing rummy. I also know that you know that every good gin player has a strong chance at winning cash playing rummy. IF you're a really good player, you'll make big money. Trust me on this one. There are plenty of bad players out there and since you're not betting against a computer, you're chances of cleaning up the tables is significantly high.

Where to play online rummy games for cash:

#1: My first choice, hands down: Rummyroyal.com . This online rummy site REALLY put some thought into ME, the average Jake, and the dedicated Rummy player. The software is awesome, the support is awesome, and the cash is UNBELIEVABLY awesome. At Rummy Royal, you may get the feeling that you're gambling, but online rummy (or any type of skill based card game) is not considered gambling so you're earning your cash, honestly, while having fun and that's a good thing.

About Rummy Royal's players: You have a nice mix of seasoned rummy players with excellent rummy strategy and rummy players that haven't got a clue. I personally spot the new gin players right off the bat. Sometimes I give them tips, try to help them out as much as I can. I play at Royal Rummy at least twice a week, usually around 10pm – midnight EST. I go by the name of JakeSnake, so if you're a real good player and want to play with me, come on down!

Play Online Rummy games at RoyalRummy.com.

#2: Rubl.com Games – Lots of fun here, but no real bucks. You can play on-line Gin Rummy and Oklahoma Gin Rummy. Play against real opponents live, one on one or in online tournaments. Rubl.com has a good pages on gin rummy rules, How to play gin rummy, gin rummy tournament rules and rummy and gin rummy strategy.

#3: RedHotRummy.com – It's hot, definitely HOT. This Online Gin Rummy game room doesn't require download and you can play rummy games free or play rummy for real money. If you're a beginner, RedHotRummy.com is a good place to start. They have a interesting beginners guide that will get you through the first hump of learning. If you're living outside the U.S. Red-Hot Rummy gives you the convenient option to play in your local currency.

Did you know?

Online Rummy is not considered GAMBLING!

Online rummy games and tournaments do not constitute gambling because they are recognized as games of skill, as opposed to games of chance. The U.S. Federal legislation ( H.R. 4411 "Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 Sec. 5362) includes a specific allowance for online games of skill, (such as those offered by rummyroyal.com and other rummy game websites) to continue operating US states.

Skill games were never noted unlawful under State or Federal law or under H.R. 4411.’
